Ref:         Transfers of Teachers in Government Schools and the dismantling of School Boards

The Belize National Teachers’ Union expresses its deepest concern and disappointment, and further condemns the political interference on the transfers of teachers in government schools and also the dismantling of Government High Schools Boards; even some whose 2-years term of office were far from complete.

He grew up in Trelawny, Jamaica, the son of grocery story managers in a rural community. Preferring cricket and football, he only took up track and field in his late primary school years, winning the national meet for his parish. His high school coach noted his speed on the cricket pitch and encouraged him to focus on the track. That’s just what Usain Bolt did and now at the tender age of 22, he reigns as the world’s fastest man, establishing world record times in the 100 and 200 meter Olympic races and along with his teammates, setting a new record in the 4x100 relay.

BWC Workers Picket City Hall – Zenaida in Trouble AGAIN! Print E-mail

Belize City, Tues. Aug. 26th, 2008 - It seems like when it rains it pours, and for Zenaida Moya, it’s more like a tsunami approaching the coast with the Mayor dead center in its path. This morning angry Belize Waste Control (BWC) workers gathered in front of the City Hall on North Front Street in Belize City shortly after 9:00 to vent their frustration at the Mayor of Belize City, Zenaida Moya, about not being paid for the past month. The men, who all explained that they have children to feed, held placards, some of which read, “We done work, PAY up!”, “Liad Zenaida”, “School di open, wi wa wi money” and “We da yu bredda to. Gi mi wi money”.
