1 DOLLAR NOW WORTH 90 CENTS

 

Belize City, Thursday, October 23, 2008 - This week has brought the most shocking news of this UDP maladministration: that the Belize dollar can now buy 10% less than it could a year ago, an effective devaluation. While the UDP government can call this loss in the value of our currency whatever fancy name it wishes, the bottom line is that when Belizeans shop, they are now getting 10% less than what they could get for that same dollar one year ago.

Belize City, Thursday, October 23, 2008 --- After six months of broken promises by the UDP government and City Council, the state of the downtown Belize City area is in the worst condition in modern Belize City history. Albert Street and Regent Street now require elevated four wheel drive vehicles to traverse them. Most taxi drivers understandably will not accept jobs to these areas because of the damage that the continuous craters will do to their cars.
