Belize City, March 28, 2008 - The Tex Mar boys of Independence Village lead the Belize Bank Super League football playoff with 11pts from 3 wins and 2 draws and will take on Benque DC United in the championship finals, which are already set, despite the fact that there remain 2 games of the playoffs to be played this Sunday.

The Tex Mar Boys battled to a nil-zip draw with Benque DC at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium on Saturday night.

Kraal Road Forever Strong had a chance of making the playoffs, if they had won their last two games, but their hopes were quashed when they drew 2-2 with Estrellas FC at the MCC Garden on Friday night.

Raymond ‘Killer” Gentle gave Forever Strong  the 1-zip lead in the 18th  minute, and the Kraal Rd crew held that 1-zip lead up to the half time break.

Estrellas FC have been battling to get out of the cellar and were not about to give up so easily, their efforts were rewarded when Evon Lino nailed home the equalizer in the 53rd minute to tie the ballgame at 1-1.

Forever Strong remained on the offensive, and got what seemed like the game winner on a strike by Paulie Bradley in the 75th minute.

But it ain’t over til it’s over, people, and Estrellas would not go gently into that dark night without putting up one hell of a fight. Their efforts did the trick as in the 90th minute of stoppage time, Ralph Flores connected with a pass from Delroy Flores to drive in the equalizer and the ball game ended in a 2-2draw, leaving Forever Strong stuck at 5pts.

Forever Strong have one more playoff game against Benque DC United at the Marshalleck Stadium on Sunday, but even a win will only give them 3pts to total 8pts, not enough to surpass Benque DC’s 9pts.

The Tex Mar Boys travel to PG to take on Estrellas FC at the Toledo Union field on Sunday.
