Verdes Jimenez vs. FC Bze McCauler
Belize City, March 30, 2008 - The Hankook Verdes is No. 1 in the BPFL with 13 pts from 4 wins and a draw in the playoffs and will visit the MCC Garden to challenge the BDF in Game 1 of the RFG Cup championship finals on Sunday, April 6. The BDF rank No. 2 and have 11 pts from 3 wins and 2 draws.

Hankook Verdes poked up their 4th win as they stomped Wagiya of Dangriga 4-2 at the Norman Broaster Stadium on Sunday.  Orlando “Lichy” Jimenez opened the scoreboard for Verdes to take a1-zip lead in the 9th minute.

The winless Wagiya squad seemed to make a last ditch effort to not exit  the playoffs completely winless, a result that the defending champs FC Belize were praying for. Wagiya’s Philip Lewis blasted in the equalizer in the 18th minute. Wagiya spirits lifted when Aaron Maclaughlin drove in a 2nd goal to give the Griga dang squad a 2-1 lead in the 33rd minute, which they held up until the half time break.

The Verdes strikers have been honing their skills all season long against the rough stone of the opposition, and by the start of the playoffs, they have perfected their plays down to a science. So it came as no surprise for the Cayo fans when Danny Jimenez drove in the equalizer to tie the game at 2-2 in the 56th minute.

Wagiya’s attempts to break up the Verdes’ plays resulted in two players getting ticketed with red cards, ejecting them from the game, and midfielder Shamir Pacheco blasted in the winning goal for the Cayo squad in the 63rd minute.

It seemed the game was almost over, and into stoppage time when Danny Jimenez iced the win for Verdes with a 4th goal for the 4-2 win.

Defending champs FC Belize desperately needed Verde to lose and remain at 10pts to give them a shot at entering the finals. FC Belize did make 10 pts, when they upset the BDF 2-1 at the MCC Garden on Sunday, but without a Wagiya win, their hopes of a playoff berth were dashed aside.

Ian Gaynair got up the vertical to put the finish on an aerial pass that beat the BDF goalie to give FC Belize a 1-zip lead in the 25th minute and they held that lead up until the half time break.

T-Bone Muschamp drove in FC Belize's 2nd goal

Tyrone “T-bone’ Muschamp sliced in a pass from Jerome James to make it 2-zip in the 52nd minute.

The champs held on to the 2-zip lead to the end of regulation time, but  when the referee tacked on some stoppage time, the BDF got their break finally as Dion Macaulay headed in a consolation goal in the 2nd minute of stoppage time.
