Belize City, April 5, 2008 - The Salvation Army Primary School won games back to back in
the 1st week of the Belize City primary school softball competition at the home
of softball, the Roger’s Stadium in Belize City.
On Saturday Salvation Army School pitcher Ashley Lucas struck out six batters to lead her team to a 14-zip win over the Queen Square Anglican School girls.
Salvation Army softball girls Ashley Lucas had also led the Salvation Army girls on the mound as they edged out the St John’s Primary School girls 10-9 in the opening game of the competition last Tuesday.
Salvation Army's Ashley Lucas struck out 6 batters The Queen Square Anglican boys outlasted the Salvation Army boys 10-7 in Saturday’s 2nd game. The Salvation Army boys scored the 1st run when Alden Augustine came home in the 1st inning, only to see the Queen Square boys take a 10-1 lead as Cesario Rodriguez and Cason Young crossed the plate twice, and Herman Gentle, Jamal Matute, Jamie Dominguez, Brandon Tillett, Akeem Jones, and Paul Mora all came home to score 10 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Salvation Army boys recovered when Alden Augustine, Francis Sebastian, George Oliva, Dylan Pinks, Kaschief Bevans, and pitcher Alex Acosta came home in the top of the 2nd inning but they still lagged behind 7-10. The Salvation Army boys got in 8 more runs in the top of the 3rd inning but time ran out and the score reverted to 10-7, the last complete inning. The Salvation Army boys had done better in their opening game against the St John’s Primary school boys, blowing them away 29-8. The St John Vianney RC School girls blew out the St Luke’s Methodist School girls 24-5 last Wednesday, and the St Luke’s Methodist School boys returned the favor, swatting the St John Vianney RC School boys 18-5. The Queen Square Anglican girls enjoyed an 8-1 win against the St Martin De Porres RC School girls on Thursday, while the Wesley Upper School boys edged by the Queen Square Anglican School boys 7-6. |
