Orange Walk, April 12, 2008 - The Muffles Junior College girls and the Corozal Junior College boys won the ATLIB northern regionals of the Association of Tertiary Level Institutions of Belize football competition at the People’s Stadium on Saturday. The Muffles Junior College girls stomped the Corozal Junior College girls 7-3 in their final game. Dahlia Mai scored 5 goals for Muffles with Sheyla Pena adding a 6th goal.

Zinia Gutierrez converted two penalty kicks to score goals for the Corozal girls.

An error by the Corozal defense gave the Muffles girls a 7th goal by an auto-goal.

Judy Augustine scored 2 goals to give the Corozal girls a 2-zip win over the St John’s Junior College girls which gave the Corozal girls ascension to the finals.

The Corozal Junior College males won their first game over the Muffles boys and blew away the Wesley Junior College boys 4-0 in their 2nd game. Aaron Noh scored the 1st goal. Clifton West scored a 2nd on a free kick. Aaron Noh added a 3rd goal, and Clifton West beat the Wesley goalie solo to make it 4-zip.

  Corozal Junior College team is ATLIB champ

The St John’s Junior College boys stomped the Wesley Junior College boys 3- zip with goals by Michael Hernandez, Mark Babalola and Hernan Morgan, but lost their 2nd game to Centro Escolar Mexico.

Centro Escolar Mexico ran over the Muffles Junior College boys 4-2 in their 1st game with Yancy Eck scoring the 1st goal and Kenrick Thomas showing off his skills with a hat trick. An auto-goal blunder by the Centro Mexico defense gave the Muffles boys their 2nd goal.

The Centro Mexico boys posted their 2nd win over the St John’s Junior College boys 2-1. Kenrick Thomas scored first for Centro Mexico. SJCJC’s Michael Hernandez responded and tied the game at 1-1, but Bernaldo Itza scored again giving Centro Mexico the winning goal.

  Centro Mexico boys are ATLIB sub-champs

The Corozal Junior College girls and boys will join the Muffles girls and the Centro Escolar Mexico boys in representing the north at the ATLIB national tournament at the People’s Stadium on Saturday, April 19.
