The Mount Carmel band from Benque Viejo del Carmen claimed third place in the musical band competition. Seven other bands competed in this category.

The Mount Carmel Marching Band members displayed their talents during a special musical event that took place in the main streets of Esquipulas. This event was followed by the final Band Show at the INBOICA stadium.

First and second place went to two other Guatemalan marching bands.

The Mount Carmel Marching Band is looking forward for the 2009 competition and have committed to bringing home the first place prize.

This year the plan to compete in an event in El Salvador in July, but they are seeking sponsorship to assist in covering traveling and miscellaneous expenses.
