San Pedro, Wednesday, August 08, 2007 - Assistant Commissioner of Police Crispin Jefferies Sr. along
with Senior Superintendent of Police and Acting Officer in Charge of Eastern
Division today paid a visit to the Ambergris Caye, San Pedro Town.
While in San Pedro, the two Officers along with Officer
Commanding San Pedro ASP Humberto Pott held meetings with members of the
business community as well as local Police Officers. In keeping with a promise by the
Commissioner, Acp Jeffries announced that two new senior officers will be
posted to the island as well as a number of other Special Constables
recruited.
While in San Pedro, ACP Jeffries toured a number of trouble spots and listened to concerns of residents and business persons from the area. Among the concerns raised was the fact loitering seems to be on the increase and that drugs continue to be a problem for the area. The Police promised more vigilance in targeting the drug infested areas and an increase in patrols and Police Community Programs.
Police top-brass meeting in San Pedro The meeting was held from 10 to noon with the business people and ACP Jeffries met with Police Officers in the afternoon. All seemed satisfied that the Police were doing all possible and necessary to address the present problems that exist. The meeting was attended by some ten business persons as well as the Mayor Miss Elsa Paz, area representative Manuel Heredia and PUP Standard bearer, Mel Spain. |
