| Denvo Banner Walks Free from Murder Charge |

BELIZE CITY, Tues. Nov. 25, 2008 - Denvo Banner, 22, a resident of
16A Cedar Street who was charged with the murder of Demsley Arnold, gunned down
on February 16, 2007, was freed of the charge in the Court of Justice Adolph
Lucas on Friday, November 21, when Crown Counsel Nadine Palacio entered a nolle
prosequi, indicating that the prosecution cannot proceed.
The nolle
prosequi was entered due to insufficient evidence.
Arnold, 28,
a resident of #2 Set Site Mahogany Street Extension, was shot multiple times in
his body around 3:15 p.m. while he was at the corner of Vernon Street and
Magazine Road.
Police
investigation revealed that Arnold was accosted by two men, both of them armed
with pistols, who shot him several times. A post mortem examination revealed
that he \died from exsanguination due to gunshot wounds.
Residents of
the area reported to the Police that they heard several gunshots and when they
looked they saw two male persons leaving the scene.
One of the
persons, who was of fair complexion, had a black pistol in his hand and he
headed on to Magazine Road towards the river.
The second
suspect, described as being of ‘red’ complexion, had a bumpy face, had his hair
plaited and he wore a red long sleeve jacket with hood. He had a pistol in his
hand and he was seen walking away from a phone booth and heading down Vernon
Street and going on to Logwood Street.
Banner, who
wore a red jacket with long sleeves, was detained shortly after the shooting.
The second
suspect was never located.
Banner was
not represented by an attorney. |
