WHAT DOES UDP STAND FOR?

It is very heart warming that the truth is coming out before the general elections. And Belizeans are beginning to get a clearer picture of the two parties, individual politicians, and what they stand for. Obviously the UDP does not stand for very much except their cleverly devised sweet talk of “…trust us.” How can we trust them for all we have seen happening at Belize City Council and at all other city and town councils?

A great leader is not one who suddenly discovers his or her prejudices and wants everyone to trust his unproven ideas. Yes, in gambling or stuff like that you can afford to trust your gut feelings. But in leading a nation with such a complex mix of people and resources, you need more than “…the way I feel about it…” way of doing things.

WHO IS A LEADER?

A great leader is one who has built his or her ideologies on time tested principles and philosophy. He does not depend on sudden flashes of reflexes. He is motivated by reason and objectivity. Because of their resolute position on a number of leadership perspectives imbued with flexibility, they are capable of taking very complex decisions on a moments notice.

So far, the PUP has shown itself to be a party that is organized with a time-tested leadership framework. It can be seen to be a party with direction. And because it has direction, it is easy to tell when they are straying. One of the best features about the PUP is the extraordinary ability to listen to everyone, and allow every person’s input. This is real democracy. Leadership does not necessarily mean where a leader accepts and implements everyone’s idea. Of course, that would be chaos. The chosen leader should always have the last say, and be responsible for his actions.

So far, Hon. Said Musa has shown flexibility and tenacity of purpose in the face of UDP slander, UDP rhetoric, UDP aggression and UDP violence. The PUP is built on the time tested writings of great philosophers, democracy theoreticians and our own son of the soil theoretician, Rt. Hon. George Price. It is all about country first! And if you must make a change, make it a “…peaceful and constructive revolution.”

WHAT DOES THE UDP STAND FOR?

On the other hand, what does the UDP stand for? Nothing necessarily. Who is the leader of the UDP? No one necessarily.

Dean Barrow does not have any philosophical basis for leadership. His members do not respect his orders. He just wants to be prime minister. He is only peddling sentiments, including the dangerous bias that Belizeans don’t want to elect him prime minister because he is black. Do we really elect prime ministers?

Dean Barrow can’t even control Zenaida Moya, Kenny Morgan, dirty mouth Joe Bradley, and rattling Juliet. How can he lead a whole nation? Dean Barrow can’t even lead a small party. How can we risk a whole nation for his childhood ambition of becoming prime minister? We even thought he stood for Phillip Goldson. But after his recent and unrepentant despiteful treatment of Mr. Goldson’s memory, all Belizeans have now seen an empty Barrow.

UDP is an army on the run. It does not have the capacity to lead - period!

PUP is still the way to go.
