“Jah would
never give the power to a baldhead
Run come
crucify the dread.
Time
alone- oh, time will tell;
Think
you’re in heaven, but ya living in hell;”
Bob Marley
– Time Will Tell
Ever since reading
last week’s issue of the Belize Times, I cannot for the life of me get those
nauseating images out of my head. Like a
horror movie that keeps you up at night, that smug photograph of Belize’s Prime
Minister surrounded by family members that have “come-up” simply cannot escape
me.
How could one man,
one family, be so oblivious to the plight of an entire nation? How can sipping
on 12 bottles of $400.00 Moet taste good, knowing full well that grown Belizean
men cannot find a job to put bread on the table to feed their hungry
children?
How could one
person actually accept $1.3 million dollars worth of tax payer dollars knowing
that 500 new jobs could have been created, 300 new homes could have been built
and thousands of our deserving children could go to school with that very same
money?
The prophet
himself, Bob Marley, forewarned us of the wrath of this baldhead. In true fulfillment of Bob’s prophecy, our
“baldhead” attempted to “crucify the dread” by proposing that our youths be
locked down in detention for 90 days without seeing their lawyer.
Belizeans have
watched in dismay and utter disbelief as our “baldhead” has turned his back on
the very same people who elected him into office, declaring war on our doctors,
nurses, trade unions, and blaming corruption in his administration on public
servants. So arrogant, so pompous, so
out-of-touch is this baldhead that he feels he can talk down to unionists and
other hard working members of Belizean society without suffering any
repercussions.
Indeed time will
tell on Dean Barrow. He has secured his future, by throwing every single
ingredient into his pot to ensure that his recipe for disaster comes out
perfectly. Never in the history of
Belizean politics has one man developed such distrust, such hatred and such
disdain from an electorate in such a short span of time.
While I may never
get a chance to sip on Moet with the baldhead, I would nonetheless like to make
a toast to him on behalf of all Belizeans and say to him “You might be in heaven…but We’re
living in hell.”
He might also not
like the sound of this, but on every street corner the mood, the chant and the
vibe are the same. Yes the people are
fed up but they are also hyped up, not because they are suffering at the hands
of mean Dean but because sooner rather than later “they gonna chase that crazy
baldhead right outta town”. Add as favourites (21) | Views: 3703 | Print | E-mail
