Sometimes it is the weather, or the
washing machine not working, or there’s just no time, but no matter what the
reason, most Belizeans have had occasion to visit the Laundromat at least once
in our lifetime.
BD’s Laundromat, located at #39
Mahogany Street, has been in operation for only 4 months, but already the
manager, Carla Dominguez, has been inspired to open her own laundromat, seeing
the quick money that is made from washing people’s clothes. The laundromat,
which can be found at the stoplight at Mahogany Street, is actually owned by an
Indian, but is managed by Carla.
There are 5 washers
and 5 dryers. For every load you leave to wash it is $4.50. This is with the
provision of the items - soap powder, clorox and suavitel from the Laundromat.
When you stay and wash your clothes yourself, then you only pay $3.50, a $1.00
less. They only charge a small fine of $1.00 for the labor and the washing
ingredients.
The cleaning that you have to do in
a Laundromat is not much. You only have to ensure that the machines are
properly wiped down after use and are always clean. All outlets should be out
of reach of water and the outlets must be checked regularly. High electricity
bills are the cost of getting into that business, but it will be cleared with
the money coming in from the wash sales.
The Laundromat is open from 8:30 in
the morning. On Sunday the opening hours are a little bit different. They are
open at 9:00 and closed at 2:00 in the afternoon.
Next month, BD’s is looking to
expand the business, with 6 new washing machines and 4 new dryers. Add as favourites (25) | Views: 1160 | Print | E-mail
