The Belize Body Building & Bodyfigure Association crowned Deon Danderson as the 2009 Mr. Belize, when the BBBBA held its annual Mr. Belize competition at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts on Friday night.

In the Junior B division, the first competition of the evening, new kid on the block Rigo Vellos wowed the ladies in the audience as he won 1st place, while Mike Tsai took 2nd and Giovanni Gomez won 3rd.

In the Junior A, Vellos again got the most votes from the judges to win 1st place, while Elsworth Tillett claimed 2nd place and Deon Ortiz won 3rd place. Germaine Sheppard placed 4th and Allan Tsai - 5th.

Fitzgerald Davis put in a solo performance to win the Masters Division.

In the senior men’s competition, Deon Danderson had out-posed Edwin Ramirez of San Pedro to win the Mr. Belize 2009 title. Ramirez took home the 2nd place trophy, while Rigo Vellos won 3rd place. Michael Buckley placed 4th and Fitzgerald Davis – 5th.

In the highlight of the evening for the men in the audience, the BBBBA held a bikini challenge competition. Somalia Vernon took top honors, while Kim Simplis was 2nd and Joyce Williams – 3rd.

The BBBBA saved the best for last, and in the female bodyfigure competition, Faith Ferguson displayed the most sculpted form to win Miss Bodyfigure 2009. Kayla Myvett won 2nd place and Leslie Miranda – 3rd; Josephine Gault was 4th.

Social Security Board and Brothers Habet representatives presented the prizes and trophies to the men, while emcee Ernesto Vasquez took advantage of his fringe benefits to present the trophies to the ladies.
