The Lord’s Bank Sunrise Cricket Club upset 4xtimes Harrison Parks national cricket champs Brilliant Cricket Club of Crooked Tree, 84-61 in Game 3 of the championship series to win the 2009 Harrison Parks Cricket championship in Burrell Boom village on Saturday.

Sunrise’ Alburn Rivero led the attack, hitting 2 fours and a six to score 26 runs before Brilliant bowler Landis “Ceigo” Wade bowled him out. Sunrise captain Edison Parks managed to hit 2 fours for 11 runs before Rodwell Conorquie bowled him out.

Wade and Conorquie took the next 3 wickets for zero runs, before Michael Sobers hit 2 fours for 10 runs only to be bowled out by Conorquie.

Dean Perez Sr. hit 1 six scoring 8 runs before he was caught. In all Conorquie took 5 wickets for 19 runs.

Gareth Joseph hit a six and a four to score 17 runs and remained not out, but the Brilliant bowlers took the next 3 wickets for only 3 runs, holding the Sunrise batsmen to 84 runs all out.

When Brilliant entered to bat, Edison Parks took the 1st wicket for 7 runs and Eldon “Pia” Wade had batted 10 runs when Dean Perez Sr. bowled him out.  The next batsman was run out, and Conorquie was stumped after he had scored 7 runs.

Brilliant’s best bat Arturo Wade hit 11 runs before he was caught, and Dean Perez bowled out Rudolph “Kenna” Dawson for 4 runs.

Brilliant had scored only 56 runs when their 7th wicket fell, and Dean Perez and John Flowers took the next 3 wickets for 4 runs, limiting the Brilliant batsmen to 61 runs all out.

Despite the dispute which at present has the association torn in 2 with 7 teams in one zone and 5 teams in the other, there is talk of a champion of champions series in which Sunrise C.C. will take on Excellence of Double Head Cabbage to determine who is the real national champion.
