As Moya raged in her mad temper, people saw for themselves
what we have been saying all along – that the UDP is a violent party. There are
many who have tried to interpret the event in different ways. There are also
others who have tried to pass the blame against Vaughan. But we do not need to
believe any one of them, both those for and those against. Just watch the
VIDEO. There was no provocation. The hateful beast that was lurking in that
woman just showed itself. The Barrow nature shared by all UDPs just manifested.
But while we consider what happened, let us also consider
what could have happened. What if there was no video clip? While there was a
video recording and Moya is still lying about being assaulted, what if there
was none? What if while the UDP thugs where pushing and shoving Vaughan from
all directions, what if he had pushed back at such unwarranted provocation?
What if Henry Usher had lost his cool and became as hot-headed as Moya, Dean
Barrow, or Peyrefitte? What if the PUP also became zealous, lost control, and
called in their supporters? What if the chainsaw brandishing fanatic sent out
and publicly supported by Barrow had been confronted by a PUP? What if the
Police had taken a more formal approach instead of the conciliatory tone they
had adopted? What if Chester Williams did not show such restraint in the face
of provocation?
There are so many things that could have gone wrong had the
PUP not shown such restraint in the face of great adversity. Moya hopes to
become Belize’s representative to the UN if the UDP wins an election. Do we
still doubt what she will do in face of ideological differences with other
representatives internationally? Peyrefitte hopes to become Attorney General:
do we still doubt that the UDP plans to rule Belize by suspending the
constitution? He made it public knowledge that the legal process is too slow.
Dean Barrow supported the shameless behavior of Moya condemned by Belizeans
from all works of life and political convictions. Barrow concurred that when it
fits them, they will suspend the constitution and violate people’s rights. With
an example, he made it clear that even if BEL has publicly appealed to everyone
not to place signs on their lamp posts, the UDP will do it regardless. And they
are still doing it. Well, if they will do it because they administer the city,
the government can then run them down because the PUP administers the nation.
But the PUP has never been a party of violence.
Belizeans, a government that will take away your rights will
be the worst thing that will ever happen to us. No matter how much bread they
will give, there is nothing as invaluable as your right to self determination
and self expression. Let’s not give up these invaluable assets for the UDP.
Let’s keep what we have, let’s keep the PUP.
