Social Security Board did the right thing in commissioning a
consultant. It was unfortunate to see Jules Vasquez portraying so much
ignorance in the name of investigative journalism. Well, in the UDP party of
blindness, a one eye reporter may be the king of intelligence. He kept
emphasizing how “common sense can tell us.” Common sense has not been known to
be able to answer complex human questions. And many policies can be found to be
embarrassing failures because they were based on common sense not informed
rigorous research.
Someone may say that “he is poor because he is black, and
that’s the fact.” But scientific sense will want to find out whether he is poor
and black by inheritance, demography, accident, or incidence. Is he poor
because of his ascription to the culture of poverty? Is he poor because of
inter-generational poverty? Is he poor because of the effect of where he lives
(ghetto)? Is he poor because of his opportunities or importunities, etc.? If
all these factors were reconstructed or reoriented, will he still be poor
though he remains black? Well it seemed clear to Jules that that guy was “poor
because he is black” – but with further research/information that all
encompassing statement can easily be proved inaccurate in some specific
circumstances. Or until the consultant began to ask the right questions.
Universal may have seemed a common sense fact that it will not work. But
scientific investigation was needed to ask the relevant questions to be void of
uninformed preconceptions.
An astute investor does not invest only where others have
succeeded. Because the real money is where others have seemingly failed.
Universal hospital can still work and make a lot of money. It should be
rescued, or some smart investor should step in there. Don’t mind Jules. He is
helplessly UDP. Social Security did the right thing in hiring a consultant. It
was embarrassing they had to be harassed into the many explanations they had to
do.
Read and pass this along to your neighbor or friend. Let’s
have peace and love one another. It’s the PUP way.
