Before Moya became mayor, a lot of women would boast that
women would make better leaders than men, or at least be as good. They were
willing to point at examples of some women who have proven themselves. So they
publicly endorsed Moya and shot her into office. But since then, Moya has
brought nothing but shame to many women, and to her party. Even her party
members have not been able to defend her rascal behavior.
On the contrary, all PUP party women who have been elected
to office have proven themselves in and out of office. Carolyn Trench
Sandiford’s business acumen has been noteworthy for success- making her a
respected professional. Even without being in the jungle of politics, she has
been an advocate for community participation and activism. This is the kind of
person we want in politics- people who have been involved in things and want to
use their political office to accomplish more for the community. We are tired
of people who just wake up one day and just want to be in power, or need the
job for the salary and prestige it accords them. We want to see people who are
not afraid to challenge the status quo, because they don’t depend on it to
survive. Carolyn is that kind of independent minded person.
Why do you think Patrick Faber is behaving so hysterically? Because Carolyn has accomplished in a matter of months, without government’s help, what Patrick has not been able to do in five years! This is the kind of person we want for Collet. Patrick, you better be afraid. The people have made their choice (and it sure ain’t you) even before the election. Do you see how Carolyn has been able to challenge certain ways in which government does things and suggested better ways to do them. She was able to show how you can shorten certain processes and get land titles in a short time. This is the kind of ingenious people we want in governance. And such diversity can only be possible in the PUP. At least Patrick can learn that you can enact change without resorting to violence and abusive language. Women should be glad; Carolyn de come! Carolyn will clear from women the shame Moya has put on the achievements women have been able to make in Belize. Go Carolyn! Go PUP!!! |
