Everyone in the House got the message. And we who were outside have come to understand it even better. The UDP have no change for change. The UDP are asking for change, but cannot even change themselves. All the things they are complaining about today are things they had the opportunity to do but refused to do because it will curtail their crooked ways. Even Delroy Curtkelvin agreed that the “UDP is crooked,” but not as crooked as some others. This is why they hate oversight. This is the reason they have been battering the idea of an elected senate. Even Godwin Hulse is disappointed at the UDP. Belizeans want an elected senate- no ifs, ands or buts. They want mechanisms put in place to increase checks and balances. This is exactly what the UDP hates to see. Because they believe that they have already won the upcoming General Elections, they have begun to fight against the Belizean people. Have we not been saying it for very long? That Dean Barrow and the UDP are dangerous for Belize? Even where many UDPs will want to see an elected senate, the all-knowing Barrow does not play kind to dissent. We can’t afford a dictator.

The UDP simply does not want an elected senate, because they don’t want anything to block their crooked ways. They hope to pass laws that will take away poor people’s land from them. They plan on passing laws that will make sure all Spanish people are barred from Belize City (sounds unbelievable but true). They plan to pass laws that will pressure immigrants and ultimately collapse our economy.

You think things are hard, now? Look around other countries and see what “sprang-head” governments could do to a country. UDP is an experiment we don’t want to try. They have shown their colors at the municipal levels already. What more do we want to see.

A vote for any of the UDP candidates is a vote out of your job. They hate an elected senate, so that they can hurt you directly. Reject the power hungry tyrants. Reject UDP.

Stay with your party. Stay with the PUP. Participate more in governance.
