People may not realize it but the new Belize is already here. Many new investments and projects have already started and are bearing fruits everyday. This all began under the PUP watch because we attracted the right people to take such big risks for all of us.

Take the oil-related industry. You are just seeing the tip of the iceberg.

Many families already know as 400 new well-paying jobs have been created in the oil sector in less than 2 years and as many as 2,000 indirectly in all sorts of businesses…jobs, jobs, jobs!

The impetus has already begun and is rolling faster daily.

This all occurred under the PUP Government’s stewardship. This is leading to positive developments for every Belizean; cheaper butane gas for cooking in every kitchen will happen in 2008; cheaper gas at the pump with our own Belizean oil. The new oil revenues will allow us to reduce taxes across the board.

There are plans underway for using the new oil resource to generate cheaper electricity for all. Equal health for all is now in sight.

Lap-top computer technology in the hands of our children is coming.

This is all “home-grown” on this Government’s watch. We are not just talking promises … this is real … this is now.

The development of oil and gas in any country is the backbone. Look at the U.S.A. – the platform from which all other industries flourish. There are greater opportunities throughout other industries when cheaper energy costs abound.

And still better … it has only been two years and we have only scrapped the surface. There is already an increased international interest for investment with more jobs being created, more investments in tourism, more development with new hotels, resorts and real estate developments.

Access to foreign currency and securing Belize’s balance of payments is already positive for the country and for each Belizean bottom line.

This new found Energy has energized us and our nation. We are already there. The new Belize is today and we are moving forward. Vote for the PUP – we will keep our shoulders to the wheel to bring about the Belize we all want …the Belize we all believe in!
