Accused Murderers Walk Free

Belize City: Monday 26th November 2018.

In the Supreme Court today, two accused murderers, Micah Tillet and Jed Burgess, were acquitted of the murder of Jamal Neal, 21, that occurred in the area of Banak Street, Belize City in 2013 while he was walking on Banak Street.
Even though police investigators had collected forensic evidence at the crime scene which included finger prints of the two accused, which was on what was believed to be the get-a-way motorcycle, in court, the Star witness was a no-show because police could not find him.
This was the crumbling essence which was added to the statement of a separate witness who changed his original statement and testified in court saying that he did not really catch a glimpse of the killers because when they rode off they had their faces covered.
After carefully evaluating the strength of what was left with the evidence, Justice Marilyn Williams acquitted both Tillett and Burgess of the murder.
The defense was represented by Richard “Dickie” Bradley while the crown was represented by Shenezia Smith.
