Shrimp truck crashes, bystanders steal shrimp boxes amidst tragedy!

Yesterday, a truck carrying shrimp for export careened off the Hummingbird Highway in Southern Belize.

The incident happened at around Mile 29 sometime around 5 p.m. The driver and another occupant of the vehicle were transported to the Western Regional Hospital for medical treatment. Instead of providing assistance, many of the bystanders took the opportunity to steal boxes of shrimp that fell on the road. While the truck was badly damaged, the severity of the injuries sustained and identity of both persons remain unknown.

Police are investigating.
