Every damn day Belizeans find themselves digging deeper and deeper into their pockets just to survive in this country. At the start of the New Year they have had to face the rise in electricity rates and on the horizon is the rise of water rates.

Ever since this UDP administration took office they have been toying with gas prices at the pump. Just like a piñata they lower it just a little so consumers can feel a slight sense of relief then they raise it super high. A piñata is fun but what Belizeans are experiencing is not fun.

Since the start of 2019 there have been three major increase in fuel prices.
• On January 25th, 2019 the price of regular gasoline rose by 20 cents taking the price from $9.31 to $9.51 per gallon.
• On January 29th, 2019 the price of premium gasoline rose by 19 cents taking the price above $10.00. From $9.95 to $10.19 per gallon.
• On February 6, 2019 the price of diesel went up by a whopping 66 cents taking the price from $9.31 to $9.97 per gallon.
• On February 6, 2019 the price of kerosene which is used mostly by the poorer Belizeans will have to find 63 cents more. The price went from $6.82 per gallon to $7.45 per gallon.
This UDP administration blindfold the hardworking Belizean people with sorry excuses sent out by the Government Press Office – “These price increases are due to a reduction in supplies from the major oil-producing countries in the Middle East and in Latin America, coupled with an increase in demand due to extremely cold winter conditions in North America.”

Crude Oil is calculated and purchased in Futures. This simply means that Crude Oil futures are standardized, exchange-traded contracts in which the contract buyer agrees to take delivery, from the seller, a specific quantity at a predetermined price on a future delivery date.

We are heading to the end of the fiscal year and it is general knowledge that this UDP administration is broke. In order to maintain a steady cash flow until then, they LEVY THE TAXES ON THE BACKS OF HARD WORKING BELIZEAN PEOPLE!!
