WANTED: for MURDER Salvadoran Kills Guatemalan


Belize City: Tuesday 29th January 2019

Belize City Police responded to an emergency 911 call shortly before 5:00pm on Monday regarding a deadly incident that took place at the Belize Marine and Mooring Services situated at Mls 4½ on the George Price Highway.

Investigators say that upon arrival, they observed the body of a male Hispanic person on the ground suffering from multiple chop wounds to the face and body. He was identified as, 43-year-old Elmer Jovany Salazar, a Guatemalan laborer residing at an Antelope Street Extension address here in the city.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Salazar had just arrived at the jobsite from home in his green Mazda pickup truck when he got embroiled into an altercation with his fellow co-worker identified as Efrain Baltazar Martinez, a Salvadoran national. Witnesses told police that during the fight Martinez chopped up Salazar several times. Salazar was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead-on arrival.

The culprit immediately fled the in Salazar’s pickup truck but shortly after, the vehicle was found abandoned on Central American Boulevard with no traces of the wanted man. The police has issued an all-points WANTED bulletin for the arrest of 54-year-old Efrain Baltazar Martinez, a Salvadoran National, wanted for the murder of Elmer Jovany Salazar.
