The National Association of Village Councils (NAVCO) stands in solidarity with the Sand Hill Village Council in its Press Release issued earlier today, Thursday, June 25th, 2020 titled “Sandhill Village Council Rejects ‘Mesopotamia Land Distribution’ in Maxboro, Sandhill Village”.
NAVCO categorically denounces these actions which are clearly being used to gain political mileage in the upcoming General Elections. NAVCO continues to demand that Village Councils be given the respect by this UDP Government and its Area Representatives. We encourage all Ministers of Government and all elected Area Representative to meet with our elected Village Councils in an effort to work together in partnership for the development and transformation of our rural communities.
In conclusion, we refer to the Village Council Act Chapter 88 – Revised Edition (December 31st, 2000) which states that every person should abide with the rules and regulations of the law as stipulated in this Act.
